There's too much to take in
All these feelings running
Chasing each other in circles

Confusing myself to what I
Should and should not feel
On this very lonely evening
Watching the lights go out

One by one they disappear
Leaving me in total darkness
Wondering about what could be
And what might be in the morning

Am I supposed to know
What tomorrow brings
When I don't even know
How I feel inside at all

It's too much to take in
Like I'm trying to hold onto the world
When my hands are shaking so
I can't even hold onto myself

Falling to pieces bit by bit
Keeping a smile on my face
They'll ask questions but I'll softly reply
Trying to divert attention from my facade

Don't try to fix me because
I'm not in the slightest broken
Just a malfunction of the heart
That I can't seem to find

The Bus Stop Dialogues

I. A young man at the bus stop turns to me and softly asks "Why aren't you wearing shoes?" He taps the faded leather of his suedo-skin and his eyes smile in a gentle lilt before his mouth does. I tell him that I like to feel the earth breathe. That textures keep my mind alive and ticking like a clock. I tell him that I'm trying to grow roots so my pale limbs can twist into a tree (the way L and I talked about it in therapy). i like those two lines the most and the last verse. i thought this piece was written beautifully.
