Crying is Like

Crying is like admitting you know
You can’t hold things in any longer
An explosion of emotions
All leaving your heart at once

It helps ease the mind and put
The heart at rest for a bit
Soothing the aches and pains
Calming the storms raging within

Other times you start crying
And you just don’t know why
Gems sliding down your cheeks
Leaving tracks in their wake

You don’t know why it happens
But it’s just a reaction you have
To all the moments that cut you
Deeper than anyone will ever know

Tears fall and shatter on empty streets
Like lonely raindrops
Forming puddles in the middle of nowhere
Finding holes in your heart to fill

The salt burns the wounds
Cleaning them out to be healed properly
Just for one more try at recovery
To heal and never have to fall all the way

Darkness folding over you
Pains like a knife leaving you open
Wounds like gaping holes you only
